NAIDOC Week Public Relations Strategy
In Australia National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) is a major annual week-long celebration. For this assignment I developed a PR plan for the week, creating objectives, researching target publics, and developing key messages, tactics and content examples that all work together. I also did thorough research on ethical considerations to ensure the project was mindful.
Developing this mock PR plan for NAIDOC week, I gained valuable skills in strategically targeting different publics through the use of clear messages and tactics. I learnt about the importance of aligning communication goals with the values of the community, especially in the areas of ethical considerations and respect when working with subjects such as indigenous culture. I also learnt how to put theories into practice, using a real-world event to apply things like media strategy, campaign evaluations and making social media content to create a plan that is engaging.
